For our Charlotte Region October Monthly Meeting we will be exploring a different aspect of photography. We will be hosting as our Zoom presenter, Master Photographer and multi-award winning Nature and travel photographer - Jerry Ginsberg - and his Topic: 'Black & White in The Digital Age'. Jerry says: 'The art of Black & White photography has been with us for almost two centuries. In large part, just the underlying technology used to produce better and better works has evolved. This has enabled us to completely change the medium from the static documentary to the dynamic and ethereal. When the late great Ansel Adams stood on the shoulders of Timothy O'Sullivan in bringing landscape images forth as a true fine art medium, he used a far more efficient workflow in the wet darkroom rather than 19th century glass plates and gun cotton. Today we are immersed in hundreds of millions of tiny and ephemeral pixels as they replace Dektol, Fixer and Stop Bath. Yet the artist's goal remains the same; to present to the viewer an evocative and expressive image that translates into emotional and artistic power.'Jerry will be presenting via Zoom, and the link is below, but we also be meeting in person with our friends at The Photo Outfitters at the address in this post. So come join us to share some social time in the real world!Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86317695847?pwd=M3jKlILGGaIHPMzCpJdHpuNHRJcY9a.1Meeting ID: 863 1769 5847Passcode: 769949
