We'll be shooting the Milky Way and other night-time scenes from the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock. The galactic center will be visible starting at 10:30 p.m. and the moon will not make its appearance until after 1 a.m., providing ample time to capture some amazing night-sky images. Recommended equipment includes a sturdy tripod, a wide angle lens, a remote trigger (camera self-timers are an option) and a red-light headlamp or flashlight (no white light devices, please!) If you're new to Milky Way photography or want a refresher, be sure to tune in to the Foothills North July 10 Zoom meeting for a presentation from noted night-sky photographer Silvana Della Camera. See the CNPA calendar for meeting details. Feel free to email the organizers with any questions. This will be a joint outing with the Foothills South Region. Additional details to follow!
