Default Meeting Recap

Thanks to all that came out on Thursday night for our first meeting this year. We had 30 members in attendance and 2 visitors. David Archer and Glenda Brunette joined us and our new member, Patrick Harwood joined us for his first meeting as a member and also was our presenter for the evening.
Patrick talked to us about his recently published book on bird photography at one of this groups favorite shooting locations, Magnolia Cemetery. We would like to welcome Patrick to the group and thank him for his presentation, everyone seemed to enjoy it and have several questions for him on self publishing a book.
.
Kate Silvia presented the first “episode” of her new tech series. How to Improve Your Photos in Less than a Minute showed everyone how a simple levels adjustment is to make and the huge impact it can have on a photo. Thanks to Kate for putting that together for us. We look forward to the next lesson.

Raymond Murray brought an item to show and tell that got everyone’s attention. Raymond purchased a “Vest a blind” from a company called Quaker boy, (Quakerboy.com) with the hopes of it allowing him to get closer to birds for more intimate portraits.

There was a good discussion on infrared photography after discussing the annual meeting guest speaker. Deb Sandidge and seeing a photo by Ross Peebles in our members photo presentation. If anyone wants to research this any further LifePixel.com was recommended as well as a group on facebook by CNPA member Mark Hillard, The Infrared Photography Group.

The info for the midyear outing in Boone, NC is up on the CNPA website. Outing dates are May 17-20 with registration beginning on March 1st. If interested you will need to register early, this weekend is limited to 80 participants. The cost is $60. For more info go to CNPA.org.

We reviewed the outing schedule for this year and that will soon be posted on the CNPA calendar. Our first outing was this past Saturday and we had 13 members gather for sunrise and the Tundra Swan at Bear Island.

We are planning to host another Waterfall Tour this year since the past 2 years have been successful. Date still to be determined so keep in touch.

Our next meeting will be Thursday March 15th, hope to see you there!

Sue
