Default Re: Boat Colors

At the 2011 Annual Meeting, three paddlers came up to me and asked about camoflauge finishes on kayaks.
Native Watercraft www.nativewatercraft.com located in Greensboro for 2011 is making their entire Ultimate and Manta Ray kayak line with the exception of the 12 foot Ultimate Tegris available in camofluage finish. A number of us are already paddling Native kayaks.
When you look at the Native site, make sure you read the excellent photo articles submitted by our own Keith Hendrickson. Keith is a great photographer and kayaker.
Hurricane Kayaks made in Warsaw, NC for 2011 came out with the Open Fisherman closely modeled after the Native Ultimate and it is available in a sand finish. Good for the reeds but not as good in a forest environment.
They are also comtemplating making the following models available in a sand finish. The Santee 116 and Santee 116 Sport as well as the sit upon Open Bay 120 and the Phoenix 120. Their website is www.hurricaneaquasport.com.
Each manufacturer will be at the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival April 15th-17th in Charleston so you can try out all of their kayaks and meet the management teams.
