Re: Once upon a time..... or the story of a printer
After looking at the Epson printers, and trying hard to get over the sticker shock, the New Owner (hereafter simply NO), called several friends, who recommended the pro series of the Canon printers....... the most current model is the ipf6400 (in 24" width) and available everywhere for about $2,900, with a $300 factory rebate, dropping the price to $2,600.......thousands less than the comparable Epson 7900, which has serious quality control issues as well as being a maintenance hog. But wait, Adorama has it for $2,399, and with the factory rebate, it is $2099.00 and free shipping and no tax..... except they don't have it in stock and are quoting 3 to 4 week delivery. Over to B&H, with a call to price match.....4 hours later, they have the printer at the same price as Adorama. NO thought it was in stock, but after buying it, was informed that it takes 7-10 days to get one from Canon and then shipping to South Carolina, another week. Still faster than Adorama, so NO let the order stand.
Order placed with B&H on 12/10, and 9 business days later, on 12/21, it arrived at and departed B&H. No explanation as to why they can't just drop ship and save themselves the extra shipping costs and time, but they won't. Trucking company has called (it has to come by motor freight, it weights 158#) and will deliver to NO on 12/28 between 8am and 11am. Oh happy day, oh frabulous joy....
